This role forms part of the housekeeping team at Pezula Nature Retreat, within the Village n Life hospitality group.
The Role
As a Houseman you’ll support the housekeeping team with physical tasks and ensure public areas, rooms and facilities are maintained to Village n Life standards. You’ll assist with cleaning, maintenance, garden upkeep and guest requests, helping create a well-kept and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities
Clean public areas, rooms, bathrooms and storerooms
Maintain the pool and outdoor areas
Carry linens, towels, toiletries and cleaning supplies
Move furniture, turn mattresses and polish furniture and equipment
Sweep, scrub, wax and polish floors as required
Clean carpets, rugs, draperies and upholstery with appropriate equipment
Wash windows, walls and woodwork, waxing and polishing where needed
Maintain gardens by sweeping and removing dead plants
Keep storage areas stocked, tidy and sanitary
Record and report maintenance issues and follow up on repairs
Follow procedures for safe use of cleaning equipment and chemicals
Assist with guest requests and communicate them to management
Respect guest privacy and report any damaged or lost items
What We’re Looking For
Grade 12 (advantageous)
Minimum 6 months’ experience in a similar role (advantageous)
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and follow cleaning procedures
Strong attention to detail and physical stamina
Dependable, adaptable and guest-focused
Honest, respectful and able to communicate effectively with management
Team player with a willingness to work overtime when required
